I needed to salvage a few electronic components off some old boards and since last week’s video went so well I decided to do another.
I use a heat gun to melt the solder then a quick tap on the bench and the components just start falling off!
Tools Used
Bosch PHG630 DCE Heat Gun
3M 6000 Series Half Face Respirator – I use this a lot and actually really rate it
This is very innovative and informative also useful Article. Thank you for sharing this Article. Thanks
Great publish. I had been looking at consistently that website and i’m motivated! Helpful information and facts especially the last portion 🙂 I maintain such information a good deal. I was looking for this type of information and facts for a long time. Thank you so much and also with chance.
Thanks for the share,I will try the same so that I can easily take off components in the PCB.Instead of doing desolder which can spend a lot of time I” just follow your tips.
Seems like the process would be expedited by a tilted table. Just bang the board on it, and the components slide out of the way by themselves.
Yeah great idea David. I guess you could even make up a sloped MDF board with collection tray at the bottom.
I thought of this same thing a few months back. I use a cheap HF heat gun set on the low setting. it usually takes only about 10 seconds to take off most any part and works great. The only problem I have really had is that sometimes the airflow alone will try and throw smt resistors. Other than that, I have only ‘browned’ one or two pcb’s.
nice cheers bro
got here from hackaday.com
i thought you sounded kiwi in the video and noticed your from AK thats awesome.
good to see New Zealanders on hackaday
Cheers! Yeah you know us Kiwis we’re everywhere!
That heat gun is awesome. A lot cleaner than the blow torch I saw you use in the late 90’s for this task.
… brings back memories….
Hey! Long time no hear! Yeah we sure did salvage a lot from that Telecom bin ay.
definitely gotta do the paper phenolic boards outside
if you have a electric plate stove try it, i lay down my boards on the plate when the soder melts just bang the board on a table all components fall
Good tip. Yeah I guess a solder bath would be pretty good too but a bit more costly. Cheers, Rhys
What temp is your heat gun set to for this?
I have it set to about 500 C. Cheers, Rhys
